How People In The 60's Thought We'd Dance In The Future

Hard to imagine why this show (the first ever German ScFi series) lasted less than three months. In English, the title was Space Patrol Orion. Here's Wikipedia:
Raumpatrouille – Die phantastischen Abenteuer des Raumschiffes Orion (literal translation: Space Patrol – The Fantastic Adventures of the Spaceship Orion), also known as Raumpatrouille Orion, and Space Patrol Orion in English, was the first German science fiction television series.
First episode date: September 17, 1966

Final episode date: December 10, 1966

  1. It always seem that in the future lapels will be a lost technology.

  2. It kind of looks like a weird minuet.

  3. Reminds me of birds and their mating dances.

  4. this is how I dance. what is so amusing about that? explain please.

sidenote: I like the look the woman who delivers the note gives his female companion, subtly communicating that she has slept with this guy and this bitch had better keep her distance.

  6. Actually, if you eliminate the couples aspect, it's not all that different from line dances like Electric Slide or the Macarena. (Watch it with the sound off.) The ice dancing pairs move at the end, while silly on the dance floor, also looked kind of familiar. Downright prescient.

  7. Put them in lederhosen, add "oom-pah," and they'd fit right in at any US ersatz-Bayerisch fest. Germans have always eschewed the oppression of lapels. Where do you think the Beatles got that?

  8. I can hear the jokes black comedians would make about that dance already.

  9. Well, there was the Macarena.

I'd say the prediction's biggest failure was a lack of explicit simulated sexual movements.
