I know this is Mashable's issue and not yours (and great blog!), but I'd have preferred to see a third stat: The purchasing power of the older sum in 2013 dollars.
It's actually cheaper to be Wolverine today than it was in 1974, according to the inflation calculator. (I'm guessing the adamantium is made in China now.)
$4,160 for David Banner to buy a shirt and pair of pants? WTF? What, is he buying bespoke 3-piece suits or something? In 2013, Banner has the option of Wal-Mart or, since he probably wants to buy in bulk, Cosco.
$200=$100 for a pair of shoes, $65 for jeans, and $35 for a shirt.
